On days 2 and 3 of the INALL visit to Zimbabwe, we got to visit Mbire District, which hosts one of the ALLS. We got to engage in different activities that included
~Discussion with the agricultural officers, forest commission, livestock officer, and wildlife conservation on their role in agroecology with farmers and the community.
~Visited some on-farm trials for farmers, e.g., Pfumbvudza plots, conservation agriculture, push and pull trials using sorghum, branchiaria, and cowpeas, and use of live mulch and biochar.
~We visited the forestry commission nursery.
~How some farmers are adopting water harvesting techniques to improve food production.
~Livestock production, fruit tree farming and how to cure manure.
~We shared and enjoyed traditional Zimbabwean meals.
